Fatal Altercation Begins at Gas Station and Moves Nearby
HOUSTON — A woman was fatally stabbed late Friday evening following a dispute that began at a southwest Houston gas station and escalated a short distance away, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO). The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on December 26, 2025, near the Super Stop gas station on South Highway 6.
Authorities said the victim and a friend were at the gas station when they became involved in an argument with another woman. After the initial confrontation, the victim and her companion walked into a nearby open field, where the altercation continued. During that encounter, the suspect allegedly stabbed the woman in the chest. She was transported by emergency personnel to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Victim Identified, Suspect Sought
Law enforcement later identified the victim as 43-year-old Anna Sanchez, a local resident. Deputies believe the suspect is a woman known to be homeless in the area, though no arrests had been made at the time of reporting.
HCSO urged anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts or details of the incident to contact investigators. Authorities emphasized that even small details could help lead to an arrest and provide justice for the victim’s family.
Investigation Ongoing
Harris County deputies are leading the investigation, working with crime scene technicians and detectives to reconstruct the events. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the gas station and surrounding areas, and they are conducting interviews with witnesses who may have been present.
Officials said the encounter appears to have been a confrontation between individuals who did not previously know each other. Deputies are canvassing the neighborhood for additional eyewitness accounts and monitoring potential leads to locate the suspect.
Community Response and Safety Reminders
News of the stabbing has raised concerns among residents in southwest Houston, who described the area as typically peaceful. Neighbors expressed shock that a routine stop at a gas station could turn deadly, highlighting the unpredictability of violent encounters.
Authorities reminded residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. They also stressed that public safety remains a priority and that community tips can be critical in solving violent crimes. Support resources and crisis hotlines are available for residents who may need assistance.
As the investigation continues, HCSO said more information will be released once available. Deputies emphasized that cooperation between the community and law enforcement is key to preventing similar tragedies.
