Police have not confirmed any connection between the incidents. No arrests had been announced as of Monday morning, and both cases remain under active investigation.
Back-to-Back Burglaries in the Fulton River District
The first burglary was reported around 12:40 a.m. at a 7-Eleven located at the intersection of Halsted Street and Milwaukee Avenue in the Fulton River District. Police say three male suspects forcibly entered the store by breaking through the front glass door.
Once inside, the suspects removed two cash registers before fleeing the scene. Investigators said the group left the area traveling northbound in a black sedan. No injuries were reported during the initial incident.
Second Group Enters Minutes Later
Shortly after the first burglary, a second group of suspects entered the same store using the already damaged front entrance. Police said two additional male suspects went inside and took more items before leaving the location.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the second group was connected to the first burglary or whether they acted independently after noticing the broken storefront. The quick succession of the incidents has raised questions for investigators reviewing surveillance footage.
Investigation Status in Fulton River District
Area Three detectives are handling the investigation into both burglaries. As of Monday morning, no suspects were in custody, and police had not released further descriptions of those involved.
Investigators are reviewing security video from the store and nearby businesses. Police have not disclosed the total value of the stolen property or whether the store was open to customers at the time of the incidents.
Separate Albany Park Armed Robbery
About an hour later, at approximately 1:48 a.m., police responded to a separate incident at another 7-Eleven located in the 2900 block of West Montrose Avenue in the Albany Park neighborhood.
In that case, police said an employee was the victim of an armed robbery. During the incident, the employee was struck with a firearm. The injuries were not described as life-threatening, and the employee’s identity has not been released.
Ongoing Police Response and Public Safety
Detectives are investigating the Albany Park robbery separately from the Fulton River District burglaries. Police have not announced any arrests or suspect descriptions related to that case.
Authorities continue to gather evidence, including surveillance footage and witness statements, and are asking anyone with information about either incident to contact investigators.
The overnight incidents highlight continued safety concerns for late-night retail businesses across Chicago. Police say both investigations remain active and that updates will be provided if new information becomes available.
