Late-Night Attack Reported on North Sheffield Avenue
A 27-year-old man and his 6-year-old son were injured during a stabbing incident late Sunday night in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, according to police.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:24 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in the 2700 block of North Sheffield Avenue, located between Diversey Parkway and Schubert Avenue. Authorities said the victims were walking in the area when they were approached by an unknown individual.
Chicago police responded to reports of an assault and arrived to find both victims injured.
Altercation Leads to Stabbing
According to preliminary information released by investigators, the suspect approached the victims and became aggressive, leading to a physical confrontation. During the encounter, the suspect produced a sharp object, resulting in injuries to both the man and the child.

Victims Transported to Hospital

Officials said the 6-year-old boy sustained a minor laceration to his back, while the 27-year-old man suffered a puncture wound to his left arm. Both were listed in fair to good condition, and their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Suspect Fled the Scene on Foot
The suspect fled the area on foot following the incident, heading south, according to police. As of Monday morning, January 12, 2026, no arrests had been made and no suspect information had been publicly released.
