Three women were found dead from gunshot wounds inside a South Philadelphia home on Monday evening, June 22, 2026, in a case investigators believe was a double murder-suicide. Philadelphia police responded to a reported shooting on the 2800 block of South 10th Street and discovered all three victims inside the residence.
Police Responded to Reported Shooting
Officers were dispatched to the home at approximately 5:32 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
When they arrived, police found three adult women suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics responded to the scene and pronounced all three victims dead at approximately 5:38 p.m.
Victims Found With Gunshot Wounds
According to investigators, each of the women sustained a single gunshot wound to the head.
The victims are believed to be 67, 56, and 18 years old. Authorities have not yet released their identities pending notification of family members.
Investigators Believe Shooting Was Domestic Incident
Preliminary findings indicate that one of the women shot the other two before turning the firearm on herself.
A gun was recovered inside the residence, and detectives are continuing to examine evidence collected from the scene. Officials emphasized that the investigation remains active while they work to determine the exact circumstances leading up to the deaths.
Incident Occurred Near World Cup Match
The home is located about three blocks from Lincoln Financial Field, where a FIFA World Cup match between France and Iraq had begun roughly 30 minutes earlier.
Authorities stressed that the shooting was confined to the residence and had no connection to the nearby sporting event or related activities.
Homicide Detectives Continue Investigation
The Philadelphia Police Department's Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses, reviewing evidence, and working to establish a timeline of events inside the home. Additional information is expected to be released once family notifications have been completed.
