A 32-year-old Wisconsin woman was fatally shot during a domestic violence incident in St. Francis on Thursday, July 16, 2026, authorities said.
Woman Fatally Shot Outside Apartment Complex
According to the St. Francis Police Department, officers responded just before 6:30 p.m. to the Lake Park Apartments near South Packard Avenue and Lake Drive after receiving multiple reports of gunfire.
Police found 32-year-old Kiana M. Pliska suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the apartment complex parking lot.
First responders provided emergency medical care before she was transported to a nearby hospital, where she died during surgery.
Child Witnessed the Shooting
Authorities said the shooting happened in front of Pliska's young son, who was not physically injured.
Family members described Pliska as a devoted mother of two boys.
Suspect Arrested
Less than two hours after the shooting, police arrested a 33-year-old Milwaukee man following a brief pursuit in Wauwatosa.
Investigators said the suspect and Pliska knew each other, and the case is being investigated as a domestic violence homicide.
The St. Francis Police Department has referred the case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office for formal charges.
Investigation Continues
According to investigators, Pliska was scheduled to receive a restraining order against an ex-partner later that same day.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
