The Brief
Two people were killed and nine others were hurt after a mass shooting at a block party in Trenton, New Jersey, early Sunday morning.
The shooting happened around 12:23 a.m. on August 30 in the 100 block of Locust Street in the Wilbur section of East Trenton.
Police said multiple people approached an unauthorized street gathering with about 150 to 200 people and opened fire into the crowd. More than 50 shell casings were recovered from the area.
A 33-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man were killed. Eight other people suffered gunshot wounds, while another person was hospitalized after a vehicle crash connected to the incident.

The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Task Force is leading the investigation into the shooting.
No suspects had been taken into custody, and authorities had not publicly released descriptions of the people believed to be responsible.
