Symptoms Developed Within Minutes
Taplin later said she experienced blurred vision and numbness in her face and hands before losing control of her body.
Friends and family members rushed her to a hospital emergency department as her condition continued to deteriorate.
Despite being unable to move or speak normally, Taplin said she remained conscious and aware of what was happening around her.
Hospital Footage Drew Widespread Attention
During her hospitalization, Taplin's mother, Claire Taplin, recorded video showing her daughter experiencing severe physical symptoms, including rigid muscle spasms and clenched hands.
The footage later circulated widely on social media and was shared as a warning about the potential dangers of drink spiking.
