| A 5-year-old boy is in critical condition and a man was wounded after a drive-by shooting on Chicago's Near West Side, police said. |
Drive-By Shooting in Little Italy
According to the Chicago Police Department, the shooting happened at approximately 12:35 a.m. in the 1000 block of West 14th Street in the Little Italy neighborhood.
Police said a black SUV pulled alongside a large group of people, and someone inside the vehicle opened fire into the crowd before fleeing southbound on Morgan Street.
Victims Hospitalized
The 5-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen and transported to Stroger Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
A 39-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the lower back and was also taken to Stroger Hospital. He is listed in good condition.
Investigation Ongoing
Chicago police said no suspects have been arrested, and investigators have not released a description of the shooter or anyone inside the SUV.
